Exhaust Manifolds

Yesterday, went to the platers to collect some shiny bits and also managed to collect my radiator brackets all painted now to match my chassis.

Today spent what seems like an eternity trying to fit the new manifolds, basically you need fingers the size of a 2yr old to get the bolts in and having now finally fitted 3 out of 4, I am finding the last one is rubbing on the chassis where it goes down and under the rail that runs along the front end of the footwell. Options are to tease it slightly with a tool to make a crease ( hit it with a hammer basically) or send it back but it will be difficult to explain exactly where it needs adjusting and getting the angle right.

Have called it a day today as cold and hands very sore so will consider a third option tomorrow of making a cut one side of the tube to allow it to bend so that it clears the chassis and then I can weld up the gap, have never tried welding Stainless steel before but it's all part of the learning curve, wish me luck,

Update,
Just popped back in to the garage and looked again and are confident that if I extend the down tube where the pipe goes from two into one by approx 5mm this will be enough to clear the chassis therefore I have just ordered on ebay a short piece of Stainless Steel tube already with a 45 degree bend in it so I can cut out a section of the manifold and fit a new piece slightly longer and at a slightly different angle, just got to wait a few days now for delivery.
